Link to the project on the European platform.
This project aims to promote social inclusion and positive values through the introduction of nonformal education and methods into the school education. In this project we perceive the positive relations between students and teachers as the most important factor to support young people and to stimulate social inclusion (Save the Children “Nuotare contro corrente, 2018). Hence, the project directly involves both youngster and teachers in the development of new methods and tools.
Central to this project is the topic of populism and hate speech. In this project we develop methods to tackle and cope with racial hatred towards refugees, migrants and minorities in social media. The close relation between social media and media description of migration and migrants and the perception of natives about the phenomenon, shows the importance of citizenship education on this field.
Project challenges
During the first phase of the project new materials were developed. English materials will be made availabe on the international website.
Materials in Dutch will be disseminated using the 'toolbox inspirerend burgerschap', below you can find some examples
Students and teachers (secondary education, 2nd and 3th grade can participate) and send in creative outcomes related to the materials on 'online hate speech and discrimination'. The materials tell something they can do to 'raise against intolerance'. The materials can be a video, a vlog, a podcast, posters, and activity at school... Teachers and students should include a reference to the RAIN.BOW-project (logo and a reference to this EU-funded project). Afterwards materials will be shared on the international website.
You can find all the info and deadline via the PDF below.
Participants can win an international summer camp in Varna Bulgaria for 5 students and 2 teachers. During this summer camp participants will get to know the other international winners from France, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria, Romania and Belgium. During this camp they will learn more about online hate speech and discrimination and together they will contribute to an international European Values Campaign.
