The main goal of this project is to professionalise teachers, trainers and mentors in VET by exchanging good examples of practice with regard to the use and implementation of workplace learning in their curricula. In this context we want to pay special attention to the possibilities that we do not use today to facilitate access to this 'new' form of learning for specific target groups.
In this project we consider all the separate parts that are part of workplace learning starting with the development of a network of companies with which we want to collaborate in function of the diversity of the learners, to evaluate and validate the knowledge and skills that they have learned in the workplace. The common thread throughout the entire process is the guidance / coaching of the learners by all those involved and the quality development throughout the process.
To achieve this goal, we will use the peer evaluation methodology. We will teach all participants who will carry out a peer evaluation the methodology of peer evaluation. Together, we will develop the necessary documents that we will use throughout the project. We do not limit ourselves to the use of this innovative learning method for youngsters in risk. We will focus on different target groups. Throughout this project, we will hold discussions with staff members, teachers, trainers, mentors, CEOs and policy makers to get a good picture of workplace learning in the country we are visiting.
For each peer evaluation we perform, we have choose a specific main focus:
The common thread throughout the entire process will be the quality development and the communication between student, company and school.
Each peer evaluation results in a report for the visited center in which we name the strengths and formulate recommendations for improvement. With this report the relevant institution can get started to improve its own system of workplace learning based on the main focus that was used during the peer evaluation.
In a final document we will describe the lessons we have learned. This document will be published on the European platform for project results. With this document we hope that it can be used by others to introduce work-based learning or to strengthen their existing system of workplace learning.
